IRC GT Enters Bathurst 12 Hour with Champ Car Champion

The Innovation Race Cars GT car will enter the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour for the first time, powered by a lineup consisting of 2003 Champ Car Champion Paul Tracy, Nash Morris and Danny Stutterd.

The entry will be run by TekworkX Motorsport, with the race winning squad lining up for a maiden tilt at Australia’s premier endurance race.

Innovation Race Cars was formed by Stutterd and TekworkX owner Rob Woods, with the company becoming the exclusive seller for the IRC GT designed and built by the highly regarded PACE Innovations team.

Set to run in the Invitational Class, the IRC GT boasts an LS3 6.2L V8 engine producing 550BHP, based upon a space frame chassis.

Tracy has made one prior start in the Bathurst 12 Hour, where the former IndyCar star teamed up with Paul Morris in 2019.

Tracy has kept busy behind the wheel recently competing in the first three seasons of the Superstar Racing Experience in America.

Morris will line up for his first start in the Bathurst 12 Hour, following in his father’s footsteps, who won the race in 2007 and 2010.

Morris comes into the event with a strong bank of Bathurst knowledge, having wrapped up his 2021 Super3 Championship at the venue and recently taking a weekend sweep at the circuit in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge.

Stutterd has already made multiple starts in the IRC GT, including victory in the Highlands 1-Hour.

The 2018 Sprint Challenge champion has a wealth of experience in the Bathurst 12 Hour, having entered the event every year from 2013 to 2019.

The Repco Bathurst 12 Hour takes place from February 16-18.

“I am over the moon to be returning to the famous Bathurst 12 Hour,” said Tracy.

“I made my return back into the driver’s seat, after a long hiatus, at the 12 Hour in 2019. The track is one of the most challenging I have ever driven in my career. That time I was invited to team up with Paul Morris, and it’s exciting to drive alongside his up and coming son Nash this time around. “The IRC GT will be an exciting car to race around the iconic Mount Panorama circuit,”

“This is an incredibly exciting moment for the IRC GT, to enter one of the world’s most renowned endurance races for the first time,” said Stutterd.

“We’ve put together an incredibly exciting team to take on this race, with the invaluable experience of Paul Tracy and the exciting young talent in Nash Morris. After racing the IRC GT at the Highlands 1-Hour I got a taste for what the car is going to be like in an endurance racing capacity, and it’s going to be a great addition to the field at the 12 Hour.

“With the knowledge of the TekworkX team running the car, we’re all looking forward to putting together a strong performance,”
